Latent TB Screening

Tuberculosis (TB) rates in England remain high and are associated with significant morbidity, mortality and costs. London Borough of Hounslow has one of the highest rates of TB in England, and London. Evidence indicates screening and treatment of latent TB in appropriate patient groups reduces the incidence of TB, and subsequent reduction in care costs and improved patient outcomes.

Thornbury Road Centre for Health is participating in  a 12 month project, to find and treat latent TB cases of patients age 16-35 years in a high risk group.

High risk patients are those that have

  1. Born in a high risk country and entered the UK in the last 5 years OR
  2. Lived in a high risk country for more than 6 months and entered the UK in the last 5 years
